Seas and Skies
19th - 21st Friday evening-Sunday evening
including Sumarah meditation with Beate Stühm
Receiving ourselves
in movement and in stillness, acknowledging inner and outer landscapes,
bone and rock, breath and wind, muscle and earth. Stretching, breathing
and releasing.
Sumarah is a
Javanese form of meditation. It means to surrender, to let go of
fighting in our lives. It is a practice of receiving, accepting
and becoming more aware, this leads to a deep relaxation of the
body, mind and emotions. Each day there will be a guided Special
Meditation, a
time of sitting together and receiving guidance, daily meditation
is continued in our every day life. No experience of meditation
is necessary.
Sumarah meditation
has a close affinity to, and provides a clear support for this approach
to movement practice. No financial remuneration is received for
Sumarah guidance, necessary expenses will be covered by the workshop
fee.
Beate
Stühm is a movement artist, who trained with Anna
Halprin and Suprapto Suryodarmo. She has practised Sumarah Meditation
since 1987, with Pak Wondo in Java and Laura Romano in Europe. She
was a member of the Sumarah Meditation Guidance Training (2003-2005)
led by Laura Romano.
